I'm the same as you - I have a long commute and wanted to start learning Italian during my journey. I have a 'teach yourself' CD and book course and I have started using them. It's a good way to improve your skills and to make use of time that can otherwise be wasted.

I went to see my "Brother is an only Son" ( Mio Fratello e unico) at the cinema last night. It was great, very typically Italian, full of politics, love, family bonds/ solidarity and packed with humour. Most of the time it was easy enough to follow with out reading the sub titles, which has boosted my confidence. I would recommend it, I took with me two friends who are not Italiaphiles and also thoroughly enjoyed it .

Grazie to Jenny and the staff at Italia!! I received my web forum give away gift today and I am thrilled!! I had not realized that there even was such a contest, and then to win a 3 cd Teach Yourself Italian Conversation set just by logging in and thoroughly enjoying your web site was the highlight of my week. You actually have me looking forward to my long commute tomorrow just so I can begin listening to my new cd's. AWESOME!!! :)

Hi there! I too received two wonderful prizes! CDs and a book by David Attenborough. I am getting set to spend 4 months in Italy improving my Italian. It's rather daunting as this will be the first time in 30 years that I shall be away from my husband. I plan to go to a language school in Assisi, which is a short bus ride from the town we have our Italian home. I have met a likeminded lady through forum messaging and we hope to meet up. I can recommend Michel Thomas language course - he really gives you confidence to speak! Try it. Keep up the good work promoting the forum.
