Hi there. I would like to visit Sorrento and Pompei in the summer but I'm unsure in which area to stay. I've heard that Sorrento is very busy in the summer and very touristy. Would anyone recommend an area to stay but still within easy access of all the sites? Thanks a lot.
You could try staying on Capri, that would be wonderfall place to visit. We have only been for day trips to Capri, but would like to stay there myself. You can still of course visit Sorrento, and Pompeii. Have fun looking!!

I live in Naples and Capri's a good solution where to stay if you want to visit only Sorrento and Pompei but really expansive as well. Another place where to stay could be Vico Equense or, better still, Naples city from which you can get to Sorrento and Pompei by bus, car or train and to Capri by ferry... moreover, you could visit the volcano; there's a breathtaking view from the summit.
Unfortunately, you're right, in summer those spots are pretty busy and hot too, but it's worth to visit them! ;)

P.s.: Capri is an idyllic island and don't forget to see Amalfi Coast too!!
