Hi. I am planning a trip to Rome in May and need a hotel near the station. Does anyone know of any good ones that are in a decent location and walking distance to the station? Thanks for your help!

Try looking on www.venere.com. I always use this site for booking hotels in Italy (and elsewhere in Europe too) and have never been dissapointed. It's very user-friendly and you can search on lots of different criteria so you could easily narrow down the options to look at hotels near the station. Good photos and reviews from previous guests too. A friend and I stayed in the Soggiorno Europa last February and were really pleased - about 15 minutes' walk from the station and about the same distance to the Colloseum in one direction and the Trevi Fountain/Spanish Steps area in the other. About £20/night each, basic but clean and the best possible location. Have a great trip! x

Thanks for your advice, principessa! I have requested some more info on availability and rates from Soggiorno Europa, as the location seems to be just what we're looking for. If we can't get in there for our dates I will try one of the ones listed on Venere.com as it does seem to be a great resource. Thanks again for your help - I'll let you know how it goes...

We've found some great places through the Italian Tourist office. None near the station, but some really great places, so I would recommend them as a starting point. And they are really helpful too.

Hi, have you though about renting property, I just got back from a 4 week itnernship in Lazio and was staying near the station. We booked with http://www.holistay.com/italy/ was really good, would reccommend it to ya!
Lazio is a great place btw, esp the weather, food and people.

If you go back try the Hotel Martini- near the station,good prices and very friendly.
