We need to get from Rome to Positano( Grotta of fornillo) in late May. I do not understand the different forms of transportation, the time they will take or the prices.
We have been told to take the train from Rome but we do not know which train. We have been told the Circumvesuviana or the Trenitalia Velocita. I do not know where in Rome to catch either one. We are staying in Riano so I guess we will be taking the Metro to whatever train station it is we are to board. We will be traveling with luggage and do not want to be on and off many modes of transportation but also do not want to blow our budget by paying a fortune for private transport.
One suggestion was to take the train to Naples and hire a private driver for 90 Euros to Positano. Another was to take the train to Naples and take the ferry to Positano and then the bus to Grotta of fornillo. I understand the local buses are very busy. I cannot imagine trying to get on with several pieces of luggage.
Please any suggestions are appreciated along with the approximate amount of time it will take on each mode of transportation and the price. The less times we have to transfer the better.
