My boyfriend - now fiance - has recently proposed and I would love to get married in Italy. Venice appeals, as does Tuscany in general, but I'm worried about expense. Can anyone make any recommendations on how I can go about this or do they have any suggestions on different locations I might not have considered? I am thinking of a rather low key affair, with only very close friends and family. Perhaps something in a beautiful palazzo...

First of all, congratulations! I suppose this makes you soon to be 'greedymrs'!
I think there are some companies in the UK that arrange Italian weddings, but although this might ease the organisation of it it will probably increase the price. These websites might help:
www.weddingchaos.co.uk/wedding-abroad/italy-wedding.asp
www.ladyjaneevents.co.uk
- even if you don't want to use the services, they have lots of useful info. There are a few others too. Let me know if you'd like to know any more.
Keep all of us on the forum informed of the preparations and where you finally decide on holding it. Good luck!

Many congratulations on your engagement. There is a Italian dream wedding and honeymoon magazine on the market, which I think comes out every season, which would give you lots of ideas. ( I dont think I should give you the name of the mag, given that I am on another mag site), but do ask at your newsagents! As holiday tourists, seen english weddings in Sorrento, and had friends who got married in a Tuscany villa, with friends and family staying in the villa, which was really nice. Have you set a date yet? Love to know what you choose etc., please keep us informed.....

Thanks for all of your wonderful advice - I will definitely keep you posted on this. We've set a date for September next year. Do you think this should have a bearing on the region we choose? Does anyone know where is lovely in September? Love the greedymrs joke - ha ha - will have to make sure I change my name on the forum following the nuptials. So excited!

How is the planning going? Have you thought of a region for the wedding yet? I think September is a pretty good time of year for most regions in Italy. I hope all your plans are going well!

Hi
I hope you are getting lots of information for your wedding next year. I am a wedding organiser in the UK and Italy and got married in Florence last September - it was just perfect.
Florence is delightful and it has so much going for it. Great for photos and for your guests to walk around too. You have a wonderful Palazzo that you can get married in and as you say, if you have a small group, either in a restaurant, private palazzo or even a castle can be hired for as little as 40 guests.
In comparison to wedding prices in the UK, weddings in Italy arefar cheaper. I can give you an approximate prices based on your requirements if you would like?
How are your plans coming along? If you need any help or advice, please do not hesitate to contact me on mailto:weddings@teresamarra.com">weddings@teresamarra.com.
