At the moment we are only looking for hotel holidays, not in a position to buy, not sure we will ever be, children still needing financial help etc.. We have visited Gradara, Ancona and Urbino, which was featured on Francesco Da Mosto 'Italy'... Would love to visit Ascoli Piceno, and understand that this is the capitol of le Marche (could be wrong). The only trouble a little difficult to get to if staying near Pesaro.
Yes it is a fair distance to Ascoli Pienco if you are staying near Fano/Pesaro. I hope you have some luck finding somewhere nearer.
The main city of Marche is actually Ancona, but the region is split into provinces with Ancona, Ascoli Piceno and Macerata being the main ones that I am familiar with.
Check out the www.marche.com site for more info on the region. We have lived here in the Macerata province, running a country house for 6 years and absolutely love it. There are also still great properties for sale as reasonable prices - check out the supplement next month for estate agents, or check out the links on our web site.
Can anyone give me some advice on the requirements for obtaining residency in the Comune of San Severino Marche.I have completed the purchase of a home in the area and am looking to take up residency next year. There seems to be differing policies between areas ,has anyone any recent experience of applying for residency ?
In order to apply for residency you have to visit the "anagrafa" office of the local commune. Your local council may have an office if not it may be located in the nearest larger town. They will give you the paperwork you need to complete. The two easiest ways to obtain residency is if you always have Italian citizenship (obviously) or have employment in Italy.
If you have neither of these, then my experience has been that you need to certify that you have a certain amount of money in the bank (and sign a release to say that the authorities can check if they want to) this is dependent on the size of your family but ranges from around €10-15,000 and take out private medical insurance. As always in Italy you have to provide birth certificates (translated at the procura) and your codice fiscale etc.
I hope this helps!
Many thanks, I am retired and I think that if you are over 65 you dont have to give proof of income etc.I think I need to speak to my agent to clarify the situation,as it seems to vary from area to area.
