In the small town of Urbania there is a jem of an osteria- Osteria del Cucco! Donatella will not disappoint! Her food is spot-on Italian country cooking, she decorates each plates with fresh flowers, the place is filled with funky pictures & chotchkies & she is as friendly as can be, like a butterfly fluttering around her little restaurant. I recommend this place hands down!

My favourite restaurants in Italy are in the small villages in Piedmont - some of them even have Michellin stars and yet don't cost very much to eat there. I wen to Combal.Zero in Turin once - weird! I ate 'cybereggs' - no idea what was in them but tasted so so strange. Expensive but check it out.

We have several great restaurants near us, when we get the opportunity to eat out, and we like to check out the competition as well. La Logge in Urbisaglia and Taverna di Loro are two of our local favourites. But we have Italian friends in with restaurants on the coast at Portonovo - La Capannina and Numana with La Torre. Ancona has some great places as well, Strabaccos and the Napoleonic Fort that is a pizzeria. Marche also boasts two michelin star establishments in and close to Senegalia - La Pescatore is one,
