Trying to remember Italian

I lived in Italy 6 years ago for just one year, I managed to learn the language fluently. As I don't have much need to speak it regularly I am starting to forget it all. Whilst living in Italy I used to watch lots of films to help me learn. Can anybody recommend any new Italian films worth watching ? Or another techniques to help me keep Italian fresh in mind ?

Hello. That film that's out at the moment My Brother is an Only Child is meant to be good. I am hoping to see it this weekend. I don't really keep up with Italian cinema as much as I want to, in general, though! As for keeping Italian in your head, could you find a native Italian speaker who lives locally who'd be prepared to chat in Italian with you regularly? It's a great way to keep your skills fresh - although I have to confess my ability isn't up to this level yet!

Another good way to practise is to listen to Italian radio stations online. There are lots of links out there which offer this facility, if you do a simple search. I find it's really helpful to hear the sounds of the language pronounced correctly, and listen to native speakers putting the emphasis on the right words in the right places! The Italian language has such a musicality to it that as well as the benefits of trying to understand the conversations, you can absorb the cadences of speech without even trying.
