Has anyone any experience of looking after Olive trees. I have quite a few that will need some maintenance this year. All the locals are pruning them so I guess I should be doing the same. Can anyone offer any tips on how best to prune them and what is best done around them. I notice that people seem to simply rotovate around the trees so maybe Im answering my own question. I would be very interested in anyones views on this however. Likewise with vines.

I don't know anything about olive trees, but vines need to be drastically pruned every year, in January/February according to climate or region. You daon't say if these are climbing vines or vineyard vines, but in general, they need to be cut back to just a few of the strongest branches- take off all the side shoots. Also you need to spray them with Bordeaux mixture and an anti-fungicide as soon as leaves appear, and every month afterwards.
